Poetry Try

  1. Sorry about the green ink, I just like that it doesn't bleed through the pages.
I have not tried to write poems since High School. I know they need some work, and these are just things that were on my mind, probably not something to share with my students. I am wondering if they have any deeper meaning to them or if they just lay it all out there and if they are too random. Thanks!

  2. I really liked reading your birthday poem. Is this about a friend you met on your birthday? I can relate to many of the things you do with your friend. Did you go to a Tim McGraw concert? I love him!

  3. Good for you for working on your poetry. Did something specific prompt that first one? I get very stuck on this type of poetry, but I can do haikus, cinqan, etc. If there are rules to follow to write the poem, I can do it all day. I have a hard time trying to rhyme or make the lines the same, or make it sound rhythmic.

  4. I really like the first poem about students. Especially about parents having more power than they think. It made me think about the noticeable lack of respect many kids seem to have toward teachers. I think there is a much deeper meaning here that speaks to the changing culture and relationships between children and parents.

  5. I am thinking of turning the Birthday poem into a picture book!
